ABOUT ME

My name is Kasia Laskowska and I work in Warsaw.

I studied painting at the European Academy of Arts in Warsaw and at the Universität für angewandte Kunst in Vienna. Then life took me in a different direction. For many years I worked in television, where I learned to tell stories with images, and later, for sixteen years, I consciously put down my brush to raise my daughters.

But I was a painter all that time.

When I returned to the canvas, I wasn't starting over - I was returning to something that had always been mine. I call this return "recovering color." And today I know that the decision to return to it was one of the most important in my life.

I don't paint to reproduce the world as it is. I'm more interested in what one feels than what one sees. That's why my paintings feature encounters between people, horses, plants, interiors, travel memories - but they are never important in themselves. They are a pretext to tell a story about emotion.

My works are currently in private collections in Poland and abroad. I hope that with time they will find their way into many more homes and accompany their owners for many years.

How I paint

There is one question I hear most often.

"Why do you paint with circles?"

The truth is, I don't have a good answer for that.

I never sat down and invented this style. I didn't decide that from today I would paint this way. I just always painted this way.

This circular hand movement is completely natural for me. I don't think about it, I don't plan it, I don't control it. When I pick up a brush, it just appears.

I think it's simply my way of looking at the world.

Painting thousands of small circles calms me. It's my kind of meditation - the repetitive rhythm makes me completely immerse myself in the painting, and everything else ceases to exist. There is only color, canvas, and me.

I don't paint realistically. Everything I see passes through my own filter. People, animals, trees, light, architecture - everything breaks down into thousands of small, circular forms from which I build a new reality.

This is my language.

But the truth is, I don't really paint people. I don't paint horses. I don't paint trees.

I paint emotions.

Every painting is a record of what I'm experiencing at a given moment - delight, peace, joy, longing, or hope. My paintings are my mirror, and they have never lied to me. Sometimes I tried to push an emotion away or pretend that everything was fine - but when I sat down in front of the canvas, it would appear anyway.

I cannot deceive my own art. That's why often, only after finishing a work, do I understand what I really wanted to say.

There's one more thing without which I cannot imagine painting. Color.

I love strong, saturated colors. I have a lot of energy and joy within me, and the easiest way for me to transfer them onto canvas is through color. It gives the painting life and makes the space around it breathe. I don't want my works to be just decoration on a wall - I want them to have a presence and stay with people for years.

Collection

I create original acrylic paintings on canvas and limited collector's prints based on selected works.

Each original painting is hand-painted, signed, and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

My limited collector's prints are produced on museum-quality archival paper, hand-signed, and numbered. Each edition is strictly limited and will never be reprinted once sold out.

I believe that art should live with people - not in a display case, but on a home wall, passed by every day. That's why I create paintings that have a presence: they bring color and light into an interior, but most importantly, they stay with a person for years.
